Used Heavy Equipment on eBay?
We all know that Heavy Equipment can be very expensive when purchased brand new. In 2009 when times are tough, buying used construction gear at auction can be a viable way for contractors to keep their costs down and margins up. My site is geared to bring you the latest relevant auctions from eBay but there are a few things to look out for before you bid.
- Age. Consider the age of the equipment as well as hours of usage. Belts and rubber parts of the heavy equipment will age faster than the machine parts.
- History. Much like automobile service history can give you a good idea on how a car has been used and maintained the same applies to heavy equipment. If the description of the machinery is vague contact the seller for further details and photographs if available. If further clarification is needed arrange to view the heavy construction gear and obviously walk away if all is not well.
- Technology. In a technological world new heavy equipment is being developed and brought to market at breakneck speeds ensure that the heavy equipment you are interested in buying is fit for purpose. Ask the auctioneers for results of any testing that they have done on the equipment before putting it up for auction.
- Price. Buying at auction is a fantastic way of reducing costs and increasing margins but not everyone has the available funds to buy the right heavy equipment for the job when it is needed. In this article I talk about the various finance options available.
